The Joy of Real Togetherness

In today's time, Internet has made life much easier and all information required is available at the click of a button.

It has made people connect each other from any corner of the world and as a result, more and more people are connected virtually than in real life. This has led to a kind of addiction where people are hooked to their gadgets and are active on their social media, connecting with family and friends, playing games, seeking information, etc. Children as young as three are addicted to mobiles playing various games and watching videos.

But all this has led to certain drawbacks which is making our society isolated leading to many side effects which is very common in today’s world. Some of these are depression, anxiety, isolation, feeling of guilt, unable to keep up to schedules, headaches, disturbance in sleep, blurred vision and there are many more which can be listed out here.

People in today’s world has forgotten the meaning of Real Togetherness and the situation in my home is no different.

I realized this drawback and so I decided to celebrate Eid at mom’s place with my family and relatives. Believe me, it was a real different experience. I didn’t connect to the internet for my entire stay there just to keep myself free from the clutches of smart phones and building a happy and cherishable moment with my loved ones in the real world.

It was a time of family bonding where we siblings and our parents sat for hours together and revived some good old memories. We visited our garden and picked fresh fruits and vegetables for making some aromatic dishes at home. We cooked food together and it was not a burden on anyone. One of us did the chopping, one did the stirring, one kneaded the dough and the other one made the chapatti, all the work load was shared and we chatted while doing so. I also visited my relatives and had a good time bonding with them. My aunts too came to our home and stayed for few days, it was really good to eat, sleep, talk and live life together. We also went out for some shopping, eating food and just roaming around in the laps of nature. My kid too instead of playing games on his iPad, spent time with his cousins playing and studying together. They visited the garden everyday and watered the plants. They were happy to see them grow. All these made us more happy, friendly, humble and helpful in nature.

My stay was pretty exciting and it really freshened me up with a new outlook on life. I’ve come to a conclusion that real togetherness does not come through a facebook like or a twitter re-tweet rather than spending time together. Such sweet moments are to be lived everyday taking over the digital world as emphasized by Kissan. For more, do check it out here http://www.kissanpur.com/

Also, watch this beautiful video by Kissan which tells us that it’s time to break the shackles of the digital world and instead get down to the roots and connect in person, by feeling and sharing real emotions in the real world.
