UseYourAnd and Take a Stand

Sky is the limit.... today's woman is ambitious and passionate about so many things. She is an engineer AND a blogger AND a doting mother AND a loving wife AND an obedient daughter. Her life is composed of many ANDs. 


One WOMAN from whom I have been inspired and which defines #UseYourAnd aptly is Mary Kom. She is a sportswoman AND a mother AND a WIFE.

Hailing from the insurgency-hit state of Manipur, Mary Kom has infused a new energy and given the youth the power to dream.  Born in a poor family she fought all odds to enter into the world of sports – “Boxing” a sport still considered to be more of masculine nature. She is the only woman boxer who have won a medal in each one of the six world championship. She is also the only Indian woman boxer who have qualified for the 2012 summer Olympics and won the bronze medal, making the entire nation proud of her. She is also the recipient of many awards like Padma Bhushan, Arjuna Award, Padma Shree and many others. Apart from this she has started giving free training to many poor students for free. 


As a daughter, she helped her parents in the fields and took care of her younger siblings apart from doing her studies. As a wife and mother, she married her friend K Onler Kom in 2005 and has 3 children. She is indeed a superwoman and a super mom. After getting the Olympic validation, she has turned an outstanding Indian icon overnight and a biopic movie on her life and career has also been made. She has embraced the power of "AND" in her life and she is loved and cared by her parents, husband, kids and millions of people across the globe.
She has become a shining star on the earth and as she says “If I, being a mother of two, can win a medal, so can you all. Take me as an example and don’t give up”.

So the women of today, get up and show the "OR" the door and embrace the "AND" in your life.
