Aloo Gosht ka Shorba | Mutton Stew with Potatoes

Aloo Gosht is a famous meat dish of the sub-continent. It consist of potatoes cooked with mutton in a stew like runny gravy. It is a classic winter comfort food and will have a nice aroma once you put in the potatoes and simmer. It can be served with plain rice and roti but yes you can even pair it up with naan/paratha/zeera rice etc etc....

Aloo Gosht ka Shorba

Ingredients:
Mutton - 1/2 kg
Potato - 2 medium size, cut into cubes and soaked in water
Onions - 1 large size, finely sliced
Tomato - 1, small, chopped into chunks
Garlic paste - 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds - 3/4 tsp
Coriander powder - 3/4 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Salt - to taste 
Coriander leaves - a bunch, chopped
Oil

Method:
In a pressure cook  heat oil and fry the onions till it becomes light brown

Add mutton pieces and saute for few minutes so that it changes colour

Add garlic paste and saute again till raw smell disappears

Add tomato, cumin seeds, coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric and salt

Add 1 cup water and pressure for few minutes

Once the pressure is released, saute till oil separates

Add potato and saute along with the mutton

Add around 3 cups of water and cook covered on low medium heat till the potatoes are done

Add coriander leaves and stir

Serve hot with roti/naan/rice
